At Acorn Day Opportunities, our philosophy is founded on the timeless truth that “great oaks from little acorns grow”. Our allotment programme at Plot 31 gives every learner the grounding roots of safety, routine, and sensory calm, alongside the vibrant green shoots of personal growth, achievement, and blossoming independence.

We warmly welcome volunteers from our local community to support Acorn Roots & Shoots. Whether you are an experienced gardener, a retired hobbyist, or simply someone passionate about helping adults with special needs flourish, your time and encouragement make a huge impact!

Learner Mentoring

Work side-by-side with our learners, offering friendly guidance on seed potting, weeding, watering, and harvesting.

Carpentry & Plot Upkeep

Help build or repair raised beds, assemble polytunnel frames, construct timber compost bins, and maintain garden paths.

Seed & Tool Donations

Spare seeds, excess seedlings, terracotta pots, hand trowels, or organic compost are always gratefully received!

Seasonal Dig Days

Lend a hand during our spring bed prep, summer harvest gluts, or autumn clear-outs alongside our energetic team.
